The Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and Maldives, Jean-Franois Pactet, has passed away in his official residence in Rajagiriya this afternoon (26), the police said.The diplomat was 53-years-old at the time of his passing.Born in 1970, Jean-Franois Pactet had served as Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and the Maldives since October 2022.A career diplomat, he had previously served as Deputy Director of Culture and Education in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Prior to this, Jean-Franois Pactet had been posted at the French Embassy to the United States in Washington (2012-2016) and at the French Permanent Representation to NATO in Brussels.
He was also a Deputy Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France.
